Can you help us help the Snowy Mountain Brumbies?

The Victorian Government and the Yorta Yorta Corp are committed to removing ALL brumbies from Kosciuszko and Barmah National Parks and have started trapping them now! Homes are needed desperately! (See Clearview Brumby Rescue QLD Facebook page for more information).

We at KoolKuna Connection are partnering with Clearview and taking in eight brumbies from the mid-March delivery at our property at Mount Byron and would welcome having more people come to help us to help them become comfortable in the company of humans. We are looking to hold camps where we can have eight people come and help start the brumbies to prepare them for rehoming and further education. This will be their first close interaction with humans! Learn how to create a bond and develop trust using proven, fear-free techniques. The cost of transportation for each brumby to us is $400. The costs will continue to mount up with nutrition, worming, immunizations, hoof trimming, training etc. The eight brumbies will be available for sale to suitable homes or foster/agistment arrangements can be set up to help us keep them on our property….. but ongoing support is not a condition of attending the camp/s and no prior horse experience is necessary.

Accommodation is in bunk rooms at The Hollow Log Country Retreat and we will endeavour to cater to people’s needs to match the interest shown. If we can rehome enough of the horses, we will continue to take in as many as we can for as long as they are available. The cost of the camps will depend on numbers and requirements but, as a ballpark figure, a camp for 8 people with vegetarian food provided would be $440 for five nights – Sunday to Thursday.

Camps start March 15
