MOUNT BYRON HORSE RIDING AND EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING CENTRE
Our horse riding centre is located at “The Hollow Log Country Retreat”, Mount Byron in the beautiful Somerset region. We’re just one and a half hours north-west of Brisbane CBD, one and a half hours north-east of Toowoomba, one hour from Ipswich, 45 mins from Fernvale, 40 mins from Kilcoy and 30 minutes from Esk and Toogoolawah.
EDUCATION
Children and adults alike will find our sessions enjoyable, stimulating and educational. Peripheral learning opportunities also spontaneously present themselves while learning horsemanship, training and horse riding … this is Equine Assisted Learning: an experiential style of learning that promotes the development of life skills for educational, professional and personal goals.
RELATIONSHIPS
Horses have a way of reflecting our emotions and telling us what they’re sensing from us. We provide a variety of interactive opportunities through observation, games, obstacles, experiments and instruction to support individual learning experiences. These learnings then spill over into our relationships with other people, increasing our awareness of our own behaviours.
SAFETY
“Koolkuna” means “place of safety”. While we strive to provide a physically safe and pleasant environment at The Hollow Log, Mount Byron QLD, our greatest emphasis is on emotional safety. We operate with the philosophy that the most effective way to achieve safe interactions with horses and humans (both physical and emotional) is to have a healthy connection – achieved through active listening, empathy, compassion and understanding.

We are open Sunday through to Thursday during daylight hours by appointment.
